St. Patrick’s Day Reuben Sandwich
A Reuben sandwich is perfect for St. Patrick’s Day because it highlights corned beef, one of the most traditional Irish-Ameri
can holiday foods. Here’s a great version you can make on the grill, Blackstone, or cast-iron skillet.
Ingredients
- 8 slices marble rye bread
- 1 lb sliced corned beef
- 8 slices Swiss cheese
- 1 cup sauerkraut (drained well)
- ½ cup Russian dressing or Thousand Island
- 4 tbsp butter (softened)
- Optional (Girls Gone Grillin’ twist)
- Light sprinkle of SPG with a Kiss of Onion on the sauerkraut or beef
Instructions
- Heat your skillet or griddle
- Medium heat works best so the bread toasts without burning.
- Butter the bread
- Spread butter on the outside of each slice of rye.
- Build the sandwich
- Bread (buttered side down)
- Swiss cheese
- Corned beef
- Sauerkraut
- Russian dressing
- Swiss cheese
Top slice of bread (buttered side up)
Grill Cook 3–4 minutes per side until:
Bread is golden brown
Cheese is melted
Rest & slice Let sit 1 minute, then slice diagonally.
Serve With
Dill pickles
Irish chips or fries
Coleslaw
Guinness or Irish stout
