Spinach Stuffed Shells (Grill-Friendly Version)

This is a cheesy, comforting pasta dish that works great in the oven or on the smoker/grill for a subtle wood-fired flavor. Perfect for sharing at gatherings or as a hearty side dish for BBQ.

Ingredients

  • 20–24 jumbo pasta shells
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella (plus extra for topping)
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan
  • 2 cups fresh spinach, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Girls Gone Grillin’ SPG with a Kiss of Onion
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • Olive oil

Instructions

Cook the shells

Boil jumbo shells in salted water until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Prepare the filling

In a bowl mix:

ricotta

mozzarella

Parmesan

spinach

garlic

egg

SPG with a Kiss of Onion

Italian seasoning

Fill the shells

Spoon the cheese mixture into each shell.

Build the dish

Spread marinara sauce on the bottom of a cast iron skillet or baking dish.

Arrange stuffed shells on top.

Add more marinara over the shells.

Sprinkle extra mozzarella and Parmesan.

Cook

Oven: Bake at 375°F for 25–30 minutes.

Smoker/Grill: Cook at 350°F for about 30 minutes until bubbly and golden.

Finish Let rest 5 minutes and garnish with fresh basil or parsley.

Optional Girls Gone Grillin’ Twist

Drizzle a little Cherry Chipotle BBQ sauce over the top for a smoky sweet kick.

Or add Italian sausage or smoked brisket crumbles to the filling.
