Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef (80/20 for flavor)
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ yellow onion, finely diced
- ½ green bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp Girls Gone Grillin’ S.P.G. Plus a Kiss of Onion BBQ seasoning
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- ½ tsp chili powder (optional heat)
- ¾ cup ketchup
- 2 tbsp BBQ sauce (Cherry Chipotle works great)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 1 tsp brown sugar (optional)
- Brioche or toasted buns
Instructions
Brown it up
Heat a cast-iron skillet over medium-high. Add olive oil and ground beef. Brown and crumble until cooked through. Drain excess grease if needed.
Build the flavor
Add onion and bell pepper. Sauté 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Season
Sprinkle in SPG, smoked paprika, and chili powder. Stir well.
Sauce time
Add ketchup, BBQ sauce, Worcestershire, mustard, and brown sugar. Reduce heat to low and simmer 10–15 minutes until thick and saucy.
Serve
Spoon onto toasted buns. Add pickles, slaw, or melty cheese if you’re feeling extra.
