Meatloaf with French Onion Gravy 

A rich, comforting twist on classic meatloaf—topped with a savory French onion gravy. Perfect for backyard comfort cooking and a great way to feature Girls Gone Grillin’ SPG with a Kiss of Onion for extra flavor.

Ingredients

  • For the Meatloaf
  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp Girls Gone Grillin’ SPG with a Kiss of Onion
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup milk
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese (optional)
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley
  • For the French Onion Gravy
  • 2 large sweet onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp Girls Gone Grillin’ SPG with a Kiss of Onion
  • ½ tsp thyme

Instructions

1. Prepare the Meatloaf

Preheat grill or oven to 375°F.

In a bowl combine beef, breadcrumbs, eggs, diced onion, garlic, milk, Worcestershire, parsley, and seasoning.

Mix gently until combined.

Form into a loaf and place on a sheet pan or cast-iron skillet.

2. Cook

Bake or grill indirect for 45–55 minutes, until internal temp reaches 160°F.

3. Make the French Onion Gravy

In a skillet melt butter and olive oil over medium heat.

Add sliced onions and cook slowly 15–20 minutes until caramelized.

Stir in flour and cook 1 minute.

Add beef broth, Worcestershire, thyme, and seasoning.

Simmer until thickened.

4. Serve Slice the meatloaf and pour the rich onion gravy over the top.

Optional Finishing Touch

Top the sliced meatloaf with Swiss or Gruyère cheese and place under the broiler or back on the grill for 2–3 minutes for a French-onion-soup vibe.
