Grilled Flat Iron Steak with Balsamic Soy Glaze
This one’s bold, juicy, and crazy good — sweet, savory, and perfect for a quick grill night or a show-off dinner.
Ingredients
- 1½–2 lb flat iron steak
- 1 tbsp olive oil
-
Girls Gone Grillin’ S.P.G. Plus a Kiss of Onion BBQ seasoning
- Optional: garlic powder or steak seasoning
- Balsamic Soy Glaze
- ½ cup balsamic vinegar
- ¼ cup soy sauce (or low sodium)
- 2 tbsp brown sugar or honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- ½ tsp black pepper
- Optional kick: pinch of red pepper flakes
Make the Glaze
Add all glaze ingredients to a small saucepan.
Simmer over medium-low heat 10–15 minutes, stirring often, until reduced and syrupy.
Remove from heat — it will thicken more as it cools.
Grill the Steak
Preheat grill to medium-high (425–450°F).
Pat steak dry, rub with olive oil, and season generously.
Grill 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare (internal temp ~130–135°F).
During the last minute, brush lightly with glaze (don’t burn it).
Rest & Serve
Rest steak 5–10 minutes, then slice against the grain.
Drizzle with extra balsamic soy glaze right before serving.
Perfect Pairings
Grilled asparagus or broccolini
Garlic mashed potatoes
Charred onions or mushrooms
Simple arugula salad with lemon vinaigrette
