Girls Gone Grillin’ Roasted Prime Rib 

Ingredients

  • 1 (5–7 lb) bone-in prime rib roast
  • 3–4 tbsp Girls Gone Grillin’ SPG with a Kiss of Onion
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 tbsp butter (softened)
  • 5 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tbsp fresh rosemary (chopped)
  • 1 tbsp fresh thyme (chopped)

Optional: light sprinkle of Hot Hens for a little kick

Prep (Key to Flavor!)

Bring to room temp – Let roast sit out 1–2 hours.

Pat dry – This helps build that killer crust.

Season heavy – Coat all sides with olive oil, then generously apply SPG with a Kiss of Onion.

Herb butter rub – Mix butter, garlic, rosemary, thyme → rub all over the roast.

Cooking Method (Oven or Smoker)

OPTION 1: OVEN

Preheat oven to 450°F

Roast for 20 minutes (this builds the crust)

Reduce heat to 325°F

Continue cooking until internal temp reaches:

120°F = Rare

125°F = Medium Rare (recommended)

130°F = Medium

Rough time: ~15 minutes per pound after the initial sear

OPTION 2: SMOKER (Girls Gone Grillin’ style)

Set smoker to 250°F

Add wood (oak, hickory, or pecan)

Smoke until internal temp hits 120–125°F

Reverse sear at high heat (grill or oven at 450°F) for 10–15 mins

Resting (DON’T SKIP)

Rest for 20–30 minutes

Juices redistribute = juicy slices every time

Slice & Serve

Slice against the grain

Spoon juices or melted butter over the top
