Girls Gone Grillin’ Style — with SPG with a Kiss of Onion
Let’s give this comfort classic a bold, savory upgrade using your SPG with a Kiss of Onion for that perfect layered flavor.
Ingredients
- For the Soup:
- 2 tbsp butter
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 carrots, sliced
- 2 celery stalks, sliced
- 3 cups cooked shredded chicken (rotisserie or smoked )
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup milk or half & half
- 2 tbsp flour
- 1½ – 2 tsp SPG with a Kiss of Onion
- Optional: ½ tsp thyme or poultry seasoning
- For the Dumplings:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp SPG with a Kiss of Onion
- 1 tbsp melted butter
- ½ cup milk
Instructions
Build the Flavor Base
In a large pot, melt butter over medium heat.
Add onion, carrots, and celery. Cook 4–5 minutes until softened.
Add garlic and cook 30 seconds.
Sprinkle flour over veggies and stir to coat.
Create the Creamy Broth
Slowly pour in chicken broth while stirring.
Add shredded chicken and SPG with a Kiss of Onion.
Bring to a gentle simmer 5–7 minutes.
Stir in milk or half & half and let thicken slightly.
Make the Dumplings
In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and SPG with a Kiss of Onion.
Stir in melted butter and milk just until combined.
Drop spoonfuls of dough onto the simmering soup.
Steam to Fluffy Perfection
Cover and simmer on low for 12–15 minutes.
Do NOT lift the lid — steam makes them fluffy!
